3 Places to enjoy Autumn in Berlin

So the Summer is gone for good, for most of the people that is something sad to hear, but the fact that the days are becoming shorter and colder shouldn't obscure the beauty of Autumn. The trees start bursting with an array of colors before they loose their leaves for the coming winter. If there are cities with lots of trees Berlin is one of them. As a matter of fact, Berlin also has its fair share of forest and woodland inside the city's borders. We want to recommend you some places in Berlin where you can bask in the beauty of Autumn in all of its colourful glory. So go grab your walking boots on and enjoy what the season has to offer!

Teufelsberg (Charlottenburg - Wilmersdorf)

To be fair, this is one of the most beloved places in Berlin when it comes to nature. It doesn't matter what time of year it is there is always something on offer. But with its wide panoramic viewpoints from a high point to the Grünewald and beyond. I can assure you that you will catch some jaw dropping views if you visit it during the fall (do not forget to take pictures).

Tegeler Forst (Tegel)

Another place to observe nature without even leaving the city, is the Tegeler Forest. It is a wonderful environment to hike around with lots of wildlife, trees and plants to observe. Also something worth seeing whilst there is the "Dicke Marie", the oldest tree in Berlin. The Fat Mary is an English oak, that got its name from the Humboldt brothers and has been standing there since 1107!

Erpetal (Treptow-Köpenick)

The Erpe is a creek that runs through pick your piece forestTreptow-Köpenick. If you follow the hiking route that runs beside the creek (on the right side of the river if you walk up north), you will arrive to the Erpetal, which is a beautiful small valley surrounded by a gorgeous forest. The perk of going for a stroll here is that you will be able to enjoy the view of both forests and the open grassland in Autumn.pick your piece forest

So now you know where to go before the season ends, and the trees remain bare until next spring. I would even recommend that you visit these places during different seasons to see how much a landscape can changes in a single year. Nevertheless don't forget to enjoy your outings and we hope you'll find our recommendations helpful.

(Extra Tip) Plänterwald (Treptow-Köpenick)

If you don't want to go too far from the centre of Berlin, then we suggest that you visit the Plänterwald. The forest is right next to Treptower Park and is mainly known for being the recreational park during the DDR times , there you also have the chance to take a stroll under the autumn coloured trees. What's nice about the Plänterwald is that it's right by the Spree, so you can also enjoy the river views if you feel like it.

Well, now it's time to choose where you'll go to  enjoy your autumn. Don't forget to take a rain coat, you know... just in case ;)
